We currently have a vacancy for a Project Manager to work in the south Atlantic. The position entails the following:
Recommend and implement best practices in Portfolio, Programme and Project Management to meet objectives in areas such as: options & viability appraisal, cost benefit analysis, business plans, milestones identification, risk assessments, value engineering, cost planning & budgeting, procurement, contracting, cost management, appropriate governance arrangements, stakeholder management, risk management, quality control, benefits identification & ensuring delivery targets are met with Directors, Heads of Service and Managers.
Develop and embed best practices within all departments for the management of large and complex multi-year programmes, including leading through the outline and detailed design stages, specification and cost plan development, procurement, selection and appointment of professional teams and the contractor.
Act as a strategic advisor to the project or programme managers.
Initiate and manage projects ensuring the approved outputs of programme, cost and quality are met through effective contract management.
Establish methods of working and reporting and evaluate these on a regular basis to ensure they remain relevant and ‘fit for purpose’.
Manage dependencies and risks across the programmes.
Ensure that stakeholders and projects are supported to develop programme and cost plans, business cases and documentation as required. Assist in setting agreed timescales for main work streams, key milestones to be achieved and contingency plans for areas requiring further work, consultation or negotiation for all programmes & projects undertaken.
Create a knowledge base of programme and project management tools and methodology that will act as a resource and develop the role and application of programme & project management.
Work at a strategic level to ensure all programmes and projects meet requirements and targets as necessary.
Report on the progress of all programme and projects.
Ensure that all programme and project milestones and targets are monitored and project slippage is highlighted and robust mitigating action planned.
Development and ongoing maintenance of stakeholder relationship and stakeholder management programme to deliver improved performance, innovation and efficiency.
Ensure sound management information systems are in place and used as required.
Recommend changes or updates to relevant legislation, policies, procedures and processes to achieve agreed-upon strategic objectives.

To qualify you must have the following qualification and experience:
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such Business or Risk Management
A business management qualification
Preferred accredited by Association of Project Management, Chartered Management Institute or Project Management Institution (or recognised equivalent)
Minimum of 5-10 years relevant post qualification work experience in a similar sized organisation
Demonstrable experience delivering step change improvement in commercial offerings
Sound knowledge and understanding of programme/project management, data management and analysis methods
Extensive experience of cross organisational working and working at a senior level in a complex organisation
Proven experience of successfully managing Programmes & Projects in excess of £3m
High level of analytical skills including the ability to analyse complex information and use it to create robust policy recommendations
Knowledge and understanding of portfolio, programme, project management concepts, principles and tools
Ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops on complex issues and to positively influence/persuade a range of audiences.
Excellent written communication, ie the ability to draft briefings/briefing notes, final reports, guidance manual, memos, letters, and speeches
Capacity to multi-task and prioritise workloads effectively, including resolving conflicting priorities
Ability to establish good working relationships and work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders across different sectors to develop and deliver a shared agenda to meet common objectives
A background in initiating, developing and managing the successful implementation of procurement initiatives and projects to support key business growth and value for money initiatives
